Practice Areas: Personal Injury; ERISA/disability claims
Brad Elkin practices in the areas of personal injury and ERISA/disability claims.
Brad brought a wealth of diverse experience to Gallagher Davis when he began his association with the firm in March, 2016.
Brad graduated from Washington University Law School in St. Louis in 2003. That same year he began his career with Brown & James, a large insurance defense firm in St. Louis. Wanting to get into the courtroom, Brad left Brown & James to work as a Public Defender in the City of St. Louis in 2004. The Prosecuting Attorney immediately recognized Brad's talents and hired him away from the Public Defender in 2005. For the next 6 years Brad was a trial attorney for the Office of the Circuit Attorney in the City of St. Louis where he prosecuted state level crimes ranging from fraud to homicide. Brad successfully tried numerous cases to juries and judges. Then Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce recognized Brad’s trial work by naming him a "Trial Star" and twice naming him a "Justice Award" winner.
In 2011 Brad left the Circuit Attorney's office and joined the firm of Brinker Doyen in Clayton, where he once again practiced in the area of insurance defense. Between 2011 and 2016, Brad defended individuals and companies in a variety of civil litigation, including automobile accidents, premises liability cases, personal and real property damage allegations, and employment claims. Additionally, Brad defended insurance providers in breach of contract cases, vexatious refusal to pay matters, and assisted with pre-suit investigations.
Since joining Gallagher Davis, Brad has used his trial experience and knowledge of the insurance defense business to represent clients of the firm in the areas of personal injury, ERISA/ disability, and wrongful death. Brad has helped clients understand how defense lawyers and insurance companies evaluate cases. Brad has assisted Tim Gallagher and Matt Davis in all aspects of their practice, from initial client meetings through jury trials. Brad has the ability to go through the records to find the strengths and weakness of a case. This helps to identify the issues that an insurance company and/ or a jury may focus on to decide the "value" of a case.
In addition to the practice of law, Brad is an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Kirkwood, MO. Brad and his wife, Jami, are the proud parents of two preschool age children. Together Brad and Jami are active in and support local charities Let's Start and Habitat for Humanity.
